Basic Hummus

Basic Hummus

Hummus is one of my favorite things to eat on sandwiches ,it is wonderful simply scooped up with warm flatbreads or great to go with veggie sticks Such a carrots , celery , cucumbers or with whole grain chips ,my children love hummus too , and I haven't meet anyone who doesn't,  hummus it is juts incredibly delicious not-to-mention how nutritious it is .




1 Cup of cooked chickpeas or 1 can of organic chickpeas 

1/4 cupfresh lemon juice (1 large lemon)

1/4 cup Tahiti 

2 tablespoonsextra-virgin olive oil, plus more for serving

1 small garlic clove, minced

1/2 teaspoon ground cumin

Salt to taste

2 to 3 tablespoonswater or the water from the chickpea can .

Dash ground paprika , chickpeas , and olive oil for serving .




  1. Rinse the chickpeas in cold water and tip into the food processor , Blendwith the restof the ingredients   (exceptthe olive oil)  together with three tablespoons ofwater or the Liquid from the cans .
  2. Stop once and Scrape sides of the food processor and slowly pour in the olive oil while it runs until getting a very smooth texture .
  3. Tip the hummus into a bowl, drizzle with a little olive oil, Sprinkle with a little paprika and add some chickpea grains and chopped parsley .



*Traditionally, tahini is added to hummus, but don’t stressout if you don't have any to add  ,I find it delicious either way .
